Viability Assessments

Weekly update - 15 November 2019

What did we do this week?

  • We kicked off the week with our fourth show & tell (PDF, 2.9mb)of this alpha phase over at City Hall. We had some really useful feedback from those in the room and it was great to be able to give a quick demo of where the prototype is up to as well.
  • We spent some time with viability officers in Southwark and Tower Hamlets to get more of their input on the comparison tool and also discuss the knowledge gaps and barriers for case officers.
  • We continued development work on the prototype, including the ability to go into a view of a particular development and get more details. We also added more historic viability assessment data into our database to make the tool more robust for testing.

What's the plan for next week?

  • We’ll be testing some of our key outstanding questions and assumptions with an external viability consultant, as well as showing them the comparison tool as it stands. This will be particularly useful to bottom out the types of data that are useful to different users at different points, and how we might display them.
  • We’ll be adding more filters to the prototype and ensuring we have enough entries in there to support this week’s testing with different users.
  • We’ll be looking forward at how best to share the case to continue this work with other local authorities at the London Viability Group meeting in December, and how this is entwined with our business case/impact case workstream.
