Viability Assessments

Weekly update - 20 September 2019

Getting this show on the road! This week we started the alpha phase of the project and launched into Sprint 1.

What did we do this week?

  • We spent the first few days settling into the work space on site at Southwark council and setting up all of our team rhythms which will drive this phase forward.
  • Several members of the team attended #PlanTech week 2019 to hear all about the great work happening in planning around the country (plus Wellington, Melbourn, New York and Helsinki!) and across sectors. Some of these including projects relevant to ours, who we’re going to speak with about sharing learnings and aligning.

  • At the end of the week, we also shared this project to a UK wide audience in the Living Room at the GLA.
  • We’ve captured all of our hypotheses for testing, along with their underlying assumptions, and grouped them.
  • We made a start on our testing plan. We've begun reaching out to people who can test elements of our existing concepts and hopefully challenge some of our prevailing assumptions.

What's the plan for next week?

  • We’ll have a full team session to review our hypotheses and prioritise them so we all know what we’re focusing on.
  • Finalise our testing plan.
  • Agree on some initial user stories for development, and consider the tech stack we’re going to use, so we are ready to start building a prototype.
  • Conversations with other current digital planning initiatives to spot opportunities to link up and share learning.
