Old Kent Road CIL revision consultation

Revision to the Community Infrastructure Levy charging schedule and SPD addendum

Alongside the Old Kent Road Area Action Plan / Opportunity Area Planning Framework (AAP/OAPF) consultation, the council consulted on a preliminary revision to the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) charging schedule between June and November 2016.

Related to the CIL and the Old Kent Road Opportunity Area, the council adopted an addendum to the Section 106 and CIL SPD in January 2017.

Consultation on the revised charging schedule formally closed on 13 March 2017. We're currently processing the responses. We will hold an examination in public with a view to adopting the schedule later in 2017. Follow the link to find out more information about the draft revised charging schedule.

What was the consultation about

The community infrastructure levy (CIL) is a non-negotiable fund which developers pay to the council in phases between the start of construction and the completion of a scheme. The funds are spent on infrastructure projects across the borough and in the local area.

A CIL charging schedule sets out the amount councils will charge developers for certain types of development in each “CIL charging zone.” With the preparation of the Old Kent Road AAP/OAPF, the council has proposed to amend the CIL zones to reflect the anticipated growth in the area and increase in land values.
