Southwark's open space strategy

The council is protecting all open space and there are new spaces and extensions to those being protected in the Southwark Plan 2022. Open space is protected as Metropolitan Open Land, Borough Open Land or Other Open Space in the Southwark Plan 2022.

These open spaces designations can be found on the policies map.

Southwark Plan 2022

New open space is being required in site allocations in the Southwark Plan 2022. Site allocations are larger sites that have specific guidance in the plan. There is a total of 111,125sqm open spaces being required through site allocations.

New open space has been designated in the Southwark Plan 2022 and accounts for a total of 49,435sqm.

Some older open spaces have been extended making up 50,425sqm.
