Drupal Forms User Guide

Confirmation

Confirmation page

The confirmation message displays after the user presses the 'submit' button. You can set this to appear in a number of formats. The default is a separate page.

Under the confirmation tab in Settings, enter the text to appear in confirmation settings.

Include:

  • confirmation: 'We have received your form. Your reference number is [webform_submission:sid]'
  • what happens next, for example when the user will get a response if applicable
  • who to contact if they have questions
  • this link: Find out how we use data from online forms

Emails to users

Do not add the user's email as a recipient of the completed form.

Even though we recommend you use email confirm elements for data integrity, people still manage to get their email address wrong (twice!). So there is a small risk that personal data may get sent to the wrong person.

Equalities monitoring

If a service want to monitor equity of engagement with them through their form, add a link in the confirmation page to a separate monitoring form.

This means that the monitoring questions:

  • don't get in the way of the form's intended purpose and slow down the user's progress
  • are only presented to the user if they want to see them
  • are recorded separately from the main form, so aren't linked to any personally identifiable data

We have created a generic equalities monitoring form. If you add the link below to your confirmation page, people can optionally continue on and give their details:
