NCompass - Southwark's Disability network

The NCompass network is a new and emerging social and support network that recognises the importance of uniqueness, values diversity and believes that our individual differences make us stronger as a whole.

We are a friendly and pragmatic group of individuals who identify, or are living with, physical disability, hidden disability or neurodiversity. We work collectively to implement practical improvements and prevent future difficulties.

We do this by sharing our experiences, discuss progressive and interesting research and work together to influence innovative health, wellbeing and disability-smart practices in the workplace; the actions and strategies, put in place, could benefit all staff to optimise potential and improve experience.

As well as making positive changes at work, we benefit from access to training and tools, as well as continued support from the leadership team through our Champion, Eleanor Kelly, Chief Executive.

Specific aims:

  • devise our own ways of working as a group including where, when and how we will work together
  • establish a ‘lunch and learn’ programme of speakers, webinars and knowledge share
  • provide peer support to colleagues and signposting where possible
  • contributing to events, awareness raising campaigns and celebrations
  • link up with other networks who value diversity, inclusion and wellbeing to discuss and champion current trends
  • focus group that the Council and partners can liaise with to inform equality and diversity policies, surveys, consultations, strategies and plans
  • understand adjustments to support disability, impairment or difference

If you would like to keep up to date with what`s going on or if you have a question about the group, then join the group today by emailing ncompass@southwark.gov.uk
