About Black on Boards 

As part of the Southwark Stands Together Programme, we are pleased to be partnering with other Local Authorities (Enfield, Islington and Richmond and Wandsworth) to provide our BAME staff the opportunity to become a Board Member through the Black on Boards (BoB) Programme.

Black on Board is a governance training programme for organisations investing in Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff designed to train and mentor participants onto board positions. Their focus within the BAME community is people of colour from Black, Asian, Latin American, Arabic communities to address under representation of our communities at board level.  The programme delivers 14 sessions over 7 months and includes support to identify and apply for board positions.  Our programme tailored to the needs of clients. Black on Board have a track record of supporting 75% of students into governance positions for every programme run over 10 years.

Who is it for

Southwark, Enfield, Islington and Richmond and Wandsworth staff from entry level through to senior management level. We will help your professional development and provide you will skills, networks and reflective development to develop a route map to progression.

Who delivers the programme

The programme is delivered by Omlec (PDF, 2.9mb), an award winning race equality organisation. Their recent partners include the Aziz Foundation and Unify the BAME (Black Asian and Minority Ethnic) Housing Group that is part of the G15 housing association group. Olmec has a track record of supporting trainees into governance positions in housing associations, Tenants Residents Associations, on NHS Trusts, as school governor, onto social enterprise and third sector boards.
