Find out about mental health and wellbeing support in Southwark for children, young people and adults.
If you need help and support
If you're struggling, it’s important to know that support is available:
- contact your GP for advice on how to deal with your symptoms and the treatment available
- Southwark’s Wellbeing Hub provides support if you’re a resident or if you’re worried about the wellbeing of someone close to you. Their Helpline 020 3751 9684 is open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays
- Good Thinking is a free digital resource that supports Londoners looking for help with stress, sleep, anxiety and low mood
- Togetherall is a free online 24/7 community of anonymous mental health support if you’re a Southwark resident aged 16+, provided by trained counsellors and peers (select ‘my area is registered’ and add your postcode to register for the first time)
- the NHS in Southwark provides a talking therapy to support you if you’re struggling with low mood, stress and anxiety (if you're registered with a Southwark GP you can contact them, or ask your GP to refer you)
- if you're a child or young person there is a range of mental wellbeing support available in Southwark
- South East London Mind provide a range of services for Southwark Residents, including parental support services, Southwark Women’s Forum and the South East London Suicide Bereavement Service the South East London Mind Telephone Befriending Service can support you if you’re 18+ and feeling isolated, lonely and in need of a chat
If you're in a mental health crisis
Get 24-hour NHS help in a mental health crisis
If you need urgent help for your mental health, but it's not an emergency, contact the local NHS 24-hour health support line on 0800 731 2864 (option 1). Find out more about the mental health crisis service from the NHS South London and Maudsley Hospital or call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
Southwark Community Sanctuary is a safe, welcoming and supportive space for anybody aged over 18 experiencing emotional distress or in a crisis. You can get help by completing their referral form.

Support if you feel life is no longer worth living
The Listening Place also provides free, face-to-face support for those who feel that life is no longer worth living. You can refer yourself for help with them.
