Winter weather

Winter advice on heating homes, gritting service, schools, vulnerable and elderly residents support, bin collections, using parks safely and transport updates.

During the winter months the weather can be unpredictable, with sudden cold spells and snowfall.

Pay attention to the weather forecast so you don’t get caught out.

Older adults and those with long term health conditions are particularly vulnerable to the health effects of the cold, and are also more likely to get injured through slips and falls.

Making preparations for winter can help you minimise any disruption during bad weather and help you prevent colds, flu and other health problems over the winter months.
