Apply for a personal licence

Overview

If you are the named designated premises supervisor who is 18 or over on a premises licence or are responsible for the sale or supply of alcohol in a licensed premises and you live in the borough of Southwark, you must apply for a personal licence under the Licensing Act 2003.

You are not required to have a personal licence to be employed in a pub or other business that sells alcohol.

You can only hold one personal licence at a time.

When you need to apply

You need to get a personal alcohol licence if you:

  • want to sell alcohol at a premises that holds a premises licence
  • want to get more than 5 temporary event notices in a year
  • are a designated premises supervisor at a premises that holds a premises licence
