Buses in Southwark – have your say
TFL's consultation closed on 7 August, but the council is continuing in its efforts to convince TfL not to take these proposals forward, and has set out its concerns on behalf of the borough in its formal consultation response.
What bus changes have been proposed in London and Southwark
Transport for London has consulted on changes to the bus network in inner London. If the proposals go through, Southwark will lose some of our bus routes altogether, making travel more difficult for many people.
Why buses are so important in Southwark
Buses are very important for Southwark which, unlike many boroughs, doesn’t have many tube stations. Buses are a cheaper and convenient way to get around our borough, to and from work, and to the West End and other places that people like to shop, visit, and go out in.
Which areas of Southwark will be impacted by bus cuts
We object to the proposals, and will be meeting with Transport for London and others to express our views on behalf of residents. We've summarised the main impacts on the following different neighbourhoods in Southwark:
- Camberwell
- Dulwich
- Elephant and Castle
- Nunhead
- Old Kent Road
- Peckham
- Rotherhithe and Bermondsey
