How to hire an apprentice

There are five easy steps to take on an apprentice:

Choose an apprenticeship standard for an apprenticeship in your industry and at a suitable level
- find more information at the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
Find an organisation that offers training for the apprenticeship standard you’ve chosen
- find a list of Registered Training Providers
Check what funding is available
Advertise your apprenticeship
- your appointed training organisation can do this for you through the ‘Find an apprenticeship’ service
Select your apprentice and make an apprenticeship agreement and commitment statement with them
- templates are available on the National Apprenticeship Service website

You can use an apprenticeship training agency if you want to employ an apprentice without the responsibility for running the apprenticeship scheme.
