In year admissions

Waiting lists

If it's not possible to offer your child a school of your preference, his/her name will be added to the school’s waiting list.

The School Admissions Code 2021 requires schools to hold their waiting lists strictly in the order of their oversubscription criteria. If your child’s name is added to a school’s waiting list their position may go up or down the list depending on whether any further applicants have been added and how the oversubscription criteria applies to these children.

All schools in Southwark hold and maintain their own in year waiting lists. If you would like to know your child’s position on a school’s in year waiting list, you should contact the school(s) directly.

For further information on oversubscription criteria at schools in Southwark, you can view the starting primary school in Southwark 2023/24 (PDF, 7.4mb) and starting secondary school in Southwark 2023/24 (PDF, 4.7mb) brochures.
