Welcome to our summer term 2024 course offer

Enrol onto a course to improve your wellbeing, bring out your creative talents or enhance your personal and professional development. There are courses in English and maths available, and we offer a range of vocational courses and qualifications from Entry Level to Level 3.

Our courses are now mainly onsite at the Thomas Calton Centre, Alpha Street, SE15 4NX, with a small proportion of courses available online.

Please enrol online by completing our enrolment form where possible. You can also visit the Thomas Calton Centre Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4pm.

English and literacy

Would you like to be more confident with your literacy skills? Are you trying to improve your skills to gain access to further study or gain qualifications to improve your career prospects? You may just wish to increase your confidence in using English in daily life.

Our courses range from basic literacy for beginners to Functional English at Level 2 and include:

  • Reading and writing - Literacy for beginners
  • Bridge to Functional English at Entry 1
  • Get Ready for Functional English Entry 2
  • Get Ready for Functional English Entry 3
  • Functional English Level 1
  • Functional English Level 2
  • Functional English Level 2 online course

These courses will update your skills level, with a theoretical and practical application for the world of work and further study. You will be supported to develop the skills that employers require. You will have the opportunity to gain a recognised City and Guilds’ qualification that will improve your job or future study prospects in a highly changing market.

How to enrol

To enrol on one of our courses you will need to attend a skills consultation to check your current level of skills and knowledge.

Please note this is by a pre-arranged appointment only - Literacy and English skills consultations are held on Wednesdays from 1pm to 3.30pm at the Thomas Calton Centre and will help to place you on the right course for your level.
