Where Southwark is located

Southwark is in central London and stretches from the River Thames in the north (its widest part) to Crystal Palace in the South. 

In the north, Southwark stretches from just west of Blackfriars Bridge to Rotherhithe in the east. Further south Southwark gets thinner, and incorporates places such as Camberwell, Peckham and Dulwich.

Southwark is home to many famous landmarks including Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe.

  • many highway structures including 2 tunnels, 13 highway bridges, 46 memorials, 18 bridges over waterways, 11 river walls, 140 lifebuoys and 203 grit bins
