Boatyard and other services
The marina operates a boatyard based on Calypso Way. The marina provides space for boats to lift out and be maintained. It doesn't provide repair services, but there are a number of providers offering services in the yard, including marine heating and electronics, carpentry, metal fabrication and painting.
The yard has facilities to store boats on cradles or trailers. There are electric and water services to the main work areas.
There are noise restrictions in the boatyard during the week from 8-6pm for power tools, and up to 2pm on Saturdays. Sundays and bank holidatys are quiet days with no work permitted.
We have a pedestal crane with a safe working load of 20 tonnes. This is reduced to 17.5 tonnes boat weight if the spreader beams are used. The crane operates between 9-4pm Monday to Friday. For commercial vessels we operate an out of hours emergency service for an additional fee.
For larger boats, the crane working area can be used for mobile cranes up to 250 tonnes.
The marina provides a pressure washing service, either as hire of equipment only or equipment and operator.
The marina work boat provides a towing service within the marina.
The marina doesn't operate a boat maintenance service, but permits approved and insured (we don't vet work quality) contractors to carry out work within the boatyard and marina. The boat owner must present a method statement with a description of the works for approval at the marina office.
All contractors working on site must provide suitable 3rd party liability insurance to the office before starting work.
Boats won't be lifted back into the water until the area the boat has been using is cleared of all waste. If the boat departs without clearing the area, the marina reserves the right to charge its labour rate for cleaning and disposing of any materials left behind. The marina accepts no responsibility for materials left on site after the boat has been launched.
Boat checking at launch
It's the responsibility of boat owners to check their boat for leaks and damage after launching. If the owner isn't present, they should nominate a representative to check the boat at launch time. The marina accepts no responsibility for damage or water ingress for boats launched on the owners instructions.
