London Youth Choirs – LYC South East Junior Choir

LYC runs 7 choirs around London for young people aged 7-23, with tuition and performance opportunities designed to educate and inspire, build confidence, and develop skills in teamwork and leadership.

Set up in January 2020, LYC South East is a mixed voice choir for boys and girls in school years 3-6, and rehearses on Thursday afternoons near Canada Water. Here, the foundations of choral singing, music reading and performance are put in place in an environment that is creative, supportive and fun. LYC work hard to ensure there are no barriers to being a part of LYC; all fees are subsidised, and they have an extensive financial assistance scheme.

Note-Orious Choir

Note-Orious meet above a pub in East Dulwich on Monday nights. Rehearsals are relaxed and fun, but at the same time focused on improving individual singing technique and group performance. An important principle of the choir is that members don't have to be able to read music, so pieces are taught through a combination of song lyrics and sheet music. There is no audition, and anyone can join, as long as they can sing in tune. All female places are currently filled, but there is a waiting list you can join. More male voices are very welcome. We rehearse for two hours a week, generally over three terms a year, and finish practice with a drink or two in the bar downstairs.

Nunhead Community Choir

Nunhead Community Choir is a fun, friendly group that just loves to sing. Our songs include pop classics, show tunes and folk songs from all around the world. We're a very mixed group with people from all walks of life and every level of ability. We're not a classical choir; we're not a church choir - we're a community choir. You don't need any training, experience or the ability to read music. The only rule is that you have to want to sing!

Ready Singer One

Ready Singer One is the only choir in London to exclusively sing songs from video games, TV series, movies, and anime. We're a tight-knit community of nerds, with thrilling performances (Science Museum, Hyper Japan...) and a full calendar of social activities. We welcome anyone who can sing in tune!

The David Idowu Choir

The David Idowu Choir brings together young singers from across the borough and is open to pupils who either live or go to school in Southwark (minimum age - Year 9). The choir meets during school holidays at various locations and its courses are completely free of charge to attend.  For more information on joining this inspirational group of talented young singers, contact Jo.
