Health and safety

Food safety

Food prepared, stored, served and handled on site must be done so properly to remove the risk to public health. This includes both food provided for staff and volunteers, and food provided by caterers to the general public. Event organisers must ensure that caterers serving food to the public have valid food hygiene and handling qualifications, and that they are implementing proper measures on site to maintain food quality.

Organisers will also be expected in advance of the event to pass details of the caterers to Southwark's environmental health team, who can then help to identify any further issues to be considered.

Barbecues must be made separate from the public by barriers or other proper divide.
