Modern Slavery Statement
Under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 commercial organisations with a large turnover are required to publish an annual Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement. It is unclear whether this also applies to local authorities, however, following the introduction of Southwark Council’s Anti Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy, the council has published an Anti Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement 2018-2019 which sets out our actions to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to our activities and to put in place steps aimed at ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking in our own activities or in our supply chains.
