Southwark's statistics
Although Census 2021 data is not yet available for family child age (and pregnancy was not assessed), data on local infants gives an indication of new parenthood.
- in March 2021, there were about 3,200 infants aged under 1 living in Southwark
- the highest prevalence of under 1-year-olds was in southern central Southwark, especially in Rye Lane, Goose Green, Peckham Rye and Dulwich Hill
- in the Goose Green and Peckham Rye areas, over 1 in 60 (1.8%) residents were aged under 1
- in the Borough and Bankside and St George’s areas, as few as 1 in 160 (0.62%) residents were aged under 1
- numbers of local infants fell by almost one third (31%) in the 10 years between 2011 and 2021
