Walking groups and associations

Ramblers

The Ramblers provide a varied programme of organised group led walks for walkers of all abilities. Walks range from short urban strolls lasting no more than a couple of hours to more challenging hikes in some of our most remote and beautiful countryside. These walks are intended for members, but non-members can try walking for free before joining any groups.

Metropolitan Walkers

The Metropolitan Walkers are a walking group for people in their 20s to early 40s. Walks take place anywhere accessible by public transport from central London. With six walks a week to choose from, with everything from short evening strolls through London's parks to 20 plus mile hikes over the hills, there are walks to suit everyone whatever your fitness level.

South Bank Ramblers

The South Bank Ramblers has a diverse membership covering a range of ages and backgrounds. Although most members are based in the boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth, others are drawn from several London boroughs or even further afield. Saturdays and Sundays are the usual walking days, but the group also organises weekday walks including interest walks within London. Walks vary in length, from 4 to 18 miles, and vary in difficulty.

London Wildlife Trust

Our friends at the London Wildlife Trust make the most of the changing seasons with a range of free and ticketed events and talks. Have a look at what's on.

Travel Active Southwark

If you've ever recognised a location from the movies, Travel Active Southwark has 9 self guided walks exploring film locations in the borough.

London Strollers

The London Strollers walks are short (less than eight miles) and at a leisurely pace, ideal for people who are new to walking and don't want to walk long distance route marches. These short walks are a great way to explore London and the surrounding countryside.

Capital Walkers

The Capital Walkers are aimed at people aged 35 to 55. You don't need to be a member to try them out and most walks have at least one new person on them. If you decide to participate, just turn up as there's no need to book.

Silverfit Nordic Walking

Nordic walking is a low impact walking exercise, where specially designed poles are used as a resistance tool to engage the upper body. Silverfit offers weekly Nordic Walking sessions in Burgess Park, Canada Water and Dulwich Park. Sessions must be booked in advance. Find out how to book here.
