High Streets for People
On Saturday 21 June, we’re bringing residents, families, communities and businesses together to celebrate our High Streets.
We want to celebrate our High Streets for People with residents, communities and businesses coming together to enjoy their streets for socialising and play.
We’re taking ambitious steps to improve the air we breathe in Southwark. Streets for People sets out our plans to make our streets cleaner, greener and safer for everyone.

Celebrations on Bellenden Road will take place from 11am to 4pm, and will include:
• Smoothie Bikes – peddle your ingredients to make your perfect smoothie!
- JoyRiders Dr Bike
- Bike Market with Peddle My Wheels
- Pop -up workshop with Our Bike
- Facepainting
- Disco Bug – DJ Van
- Poetry with Poetic Unity
- Space hopper race, junk modelling, giant hopscotch and volleyball with London Play
Bellenden Road will be closed temporarily between 7am and 7pm to make space for community and family activities, the closed area will be between Danby Street and Choumert Road. Buses will be diverted whilst the road closure is in place.
North Cross Road Market will also be joining in – with a bigger market including more stalls.

Bus diversion is Rye Lane, Peckham Rye, East Dulwich Road, Grove Vale, Dog Kennel Hill.
Roads which will not have a bus service: Blenheim Grove, Lyndhurst Road, Chadwick Road, Choumert Grove, Avondale Rise, Ivanhoe Road, Pytchley Road.
