BOXES

BOXES is a lyrical odyssey about one woman's quest to seek shelter in an unstable world. Set against the vibrant backdrop of inner city London, BOXES dives into themes of homelessness & displacement, violence & vulnerability, healing & transformation, but most importantly - the power of pounded yam and the self-discovery that can only be found while sat in a Peckham Auntie's salon chair.

"Boxes are usually really disappointing. Fluff filled, lacking sentiment and empty. But no, not this one...

BOXES is raw, funny, poetic, and a little bit heartbreaking. It was shortlisted for the Best New Black British Play of the Year at the Alfred Fagon Award's (https://www.alfredfagonaward.co.uk/shona-bukola-babayemi/) and has been listed by The Rendition as one to watch for May 2025 (https://www.therendition.co.uk/whats-on/boxes-peckham-fringe).
