Healthy weight for children

In reception and in year 6 at school, your child’s school nursing team will check their height and weight. You’ll get a letter to tell you whether they are normal weight, underweight, overweight or very overweight.

Southwark’s nutrition and dietetics service provides support to families of children with a wide range of weight and eating conditions. Talk to your GP about referring you.

Alive ‘N’ Kicking is a free 12-week course for children from 4 to 17 who are overweight or obese. It helps families in Southwark make small, easy changes to improve their health and wellbeing with exercise and healthy eating.
