Advice on healthy eating children and families, accessing free and low-cost food, and support for eating disorders.
Healthy eating during pregnancy
Eating a healthy, balanced diet during pregnancy helps give you and your baby the nutrients you need. The NHS provides clear guidance on healthy eating in pregnancy, including which vitamins and supplements to take, such as folic acid and vitamin D.

Free vitamin D for mums and children
Vitamin D keeps bones and muscles healthy. Because we get most of it from sunlight, people may need extra depending on the season and how much exposure they get. Adults and children over 4 are advised to take a daily 10 microgram vitamin D supplement.
Pregnant women, new mums and children under 4 can get free vitamin D.
Help with food costs
If you are pregnant, you may be able to get help to buy food and milk through the Healthy Start scheme, as well as free fruit and vegetables.
