Decision making for parking projects

Experimental parking zone reviews

New parking zone can be introduced using experimental powers which are defined by National legislation.  Experimental schemes can be useful to allow everyone an opportunity to see how they will work in practice.

Experimental procedures also allow us to review the zone soon after introduction and make changes where necessary.

An experimental scheme can run for a maximum period of 18 months. Before the 18 months is up the council will make a decision whether to continue it indefinitely, drop or modify the scheme.

The final decision will be taken by the Cabinet Member for Environment and Public Realm but the draft report is made public and announced at the Community Council before the decision date
