Community space hosts youth event

The new community space at 231 Old Kent Road attracted nearly 100 people to its first youth event.  The space, created by Southwark Council has been open only since the beginning of April yet has already proved a popular spot for local people.

Cllr Johnson Situ, Cabinet Member for Growth, Development and Planning who spoke at the Youth event said he was delighted to see so many young people there.  “As someone who is proud of growing up in this area, I know the importance of a space like this which brings together local people so they can have their say about all the exciting changes taking place in the area.

“We have just heard from two of our local young advisors, Josh Botchway and Emmanuel Kwakye who both spoke from the heart when they said we want young people to be heard, as their voice is just as important as anybody else. I would also like to thank all the Southwark Young Advisors who have given their time so generously to be here and help with the running of this important event.”
