Leisure and sport update - coronavirus

Southwark has started a phased return for outdoor and indoor sport and recreation. Outdoor sport facilities, including football pitches, park-based tennis courts and fishing facilities re-opened from 29 March 2021 with restrictions. We'll work to make other activities available safely, in line with government guidelines.
Following the government guidelines regarding the re-opening of leisure centres, we've been working with Everyone Active, which manages the council’s leisure centres, to ensure this can be done safely. We're pleased to confirm that all of our leisure centres re-opened on 12 April 2021. Group fitness, children’s soft play and sauna/steam rooms will be re-introduced as a second phase from 17 May 2021. It's still important that everyone follows guidance about social distancing, in order to enjoy these spaces sensibly and safely. Find more information on plans to re-open your local leisure centre 

The BMX Track London

BMX track

The BMX Track London offers a varied programme to suit riders of all abilities including:

  • child balance bikes & Junior riders
  • coaching for beginner/novice & intermediate
  • school holiday clubs
  • women only
  • birthday parties & full range of events
  • gates practice

A highly experienced team coach all sessions, and equipment hire is included (when needed).

The Track is the proud home of Peckham BMX Club who run an enormously successful weekly programme. It offers the perfect stepping stone for riders who have attended learner classes and wish to further develop their riding experience. For further information regarding Peckham BMX email pkhambmx@ymail.com.

Rock up and Ride sessions

The BMX track is now closed for all activity including the Rock up and Ride sessions. A further update will be made after the government review of Tier 4 areas on the 30 December.

Rock up and Ride sessions for accredited riders take place throughout the week and the sessions are free of charge. Sessions are bookable only and restricted in numbers to prevent unnecessary queuing and help maintain social distancing.

  • entrance gate will be locked during the session with no late admission; please arrive on time
  • riders must strictly adhere to signposted instructions and any additional instructions from site staff
  • toilet facilities will not be available
  • riders must use their own equipment
