Description

Join Bell House’s Artist-in-Residence Atalanta Xanthe for this fortnightly Saturday art class. All are welcome to this 1-3 pm afternoon class, in which we’ll be painting, drawing, printmaking, watercolouring and more.

Each class takes a famous (or an overlooked but brilliant) artist as a starting point, then combines a touch of art history with detailed technical instruction for those who want it, and a chance to experiment freely for those who don’t. Join us to draw flowers from life inspired by Dutch Golden-Age painting, make your own Lowry, and learn about the secret source material for Matisse’s collages, taking home your own Blue Nude.

This class is suitable for all experience levels, as long as you are aged 16 or older. Materials will be provided. This class is free, but if you can, a ten pound donation would be appreciated to help cover material costs.

About the instructor

Atalanta Xanthe is an internationally exhibited painter, represented by Alice Black gallery in London. Her background in painting at Oxford, Sculpture at the New York Academy of Art, and a decade of life-drawing practice have given her a wide-ranging technical skill-set she’s excited to share with the Bell House community.
