Positive Future For Young People Fund (PFYPF)
The Council are looking to fund two youth services to provide support for young people whom are from, or identify with, the LGBTQ+ community, and those young people who have Special Educational Needs. Details of the services we are looking to fund are below.
Background
In 2021, the Council ran the first round of grants from the Positive Future for Young People Fund. The Fund secured provision for young people’s activities for the period March 2022 – April 2024. This included targeted services aimed at groups of young people who may require additional support. The two successful providers will work alongside existing grant funded and statutory organisations to provide targeted support to the following:
• Young people from, or whom identify with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans + community (LGBTQ+)
• Young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or Disability.
What is PFYFP?
The PFYPF is part of the council’s Youth New Deal, which followed a review of youth services undertaken in 2020. The Youth New Deal is committed to raise the profile of services in Southwark so that no young person is left behind and have positive lives now and in the future.
The Youth Review made a firm commitment to reviewing the youth programme offer, to ensure that providers are offering activity programmes that are informed and shaped by what young people want.
The priority activities for the PFYPF funding stream have been shaped by our young people as they are at the heart of our future service delivery and will influence decisions affecting their lives.
