SEND grants for special interest groups
Apply for funding to support special interest groups and social clubs for young people with special education needs and disabilities
What the grant can be used for
Grants can be used for any reasonable costs associated with delivering the club or group. This could include:
- staff costs (such as for planning and delivering activities or support staff costs)
- specialist instructors, tutors or performers
- volunteer expenses
- activity costs and resources
- venue hire
- refreshments
What we will not fund
We will not fund:
- individuals
- projects and activities that are not for young people with SEND
- activities that have already taken place
- activities which promote a particular political, religious or extremist view
- activities that take place in a formal education setting, as part of the core curriculum
- fundraising events, activities for private gain or that result in profit being made
Who the projects are for
We will consider proposals that target:
- young people aged 16 and over with SEND (we will consider activities that have a higher minimum age where it's applicable to the activity)
- young people with a variety of support needs – we want to fund projects that are as inclusive as possible, but will consider provision that engages specific groups of young people such as autistic young people
Budget detail
Organisations can apply for grants of up to £12,000 per year, for 2 years, to part-fund clubs or groups.
Bidders must demonstrate how they will raise any additional funds needed to deliver the activities (such as membership fees or charges). We encourage the use of affordable fees to support sustainability.
We know proposals that include a higher level of direct support for young people with SEND will come at an increased cost. The level of support provided will be taken into consideration when assessing price.
