Household Support Fund 2024 to 2025

A new Household Support Fund was announced by the UK government in the Budget on 6th March.

The Household Support Fund will cover the period from April 2024 to September 2024. The Council is waiting for confirmation of its allocation (£) and guidance from the UK Government about how the new grant should be used.

Later in the spring, we expect to bring forward plans for the use of the Household Support Fund grant as part of the Council’s response to the Cost of Living challenges that many of our residents still face.

More information about the Household Support Fund can be found on the UK Government website.

Previous Household Support Fund rounds

We received a grant allocation of £2.73m for each of the first three rounds of the Household Support Fund starting in the autumn of 2021. We used our allocation to help vulnerable low-income households pay for higher energy bills and to provide holiday-free school meals for all eligible children attending Southwark schools.

In 2022-23, we merged our allocation from the government’s Household Support Fund with other government grants and topped those up with council funding to create a Southwark Cost of Living Fund. The Council did the same in 2023-24.
