Did you know that Southwark Council is the largest local authority landlord in London? The maintenance and compliance service undertakes around 250,000 repairs to our housing stock each year across a number of different repair contracts.
We all know how inconvenient it is when things go wrong at home, that's why our repairs service is open 24 hours a day. We are currently improving our housing repairs service, this is one of our fairer future promises to you.
The majority of repairs are for day-to-day issues such as plumbing, carpentry and electrical work which are generally undertaken by Southwark Building Services and Mears Ltd, with heating and hot water repairs undertaken by OCO Ltd and TBrown Ltd.
The main priority for our client team is to deliver high quality repairs that provide value for money for our customers. To ensure this our repair contracts are closely managed and contractor performance is monitored. Our current performance, which is scrutinised by residents, can be seen here.
Whilst maintnenance and compliance delivers the responsive repairs service, improvement works are delivered by our major works division.
