Peckham car park plans reach new level with confirmed lease

6 December 2016

Southwark Council have now officially handed a new lease for the building to Makeshift, which means they can now start work on making the project a reality.

Cllr Mark Williams, cabinet member for regeneration and new homes, said: "We're delighted to see this key project get underway which will create 600 jobs in the heart of Peckham. Peckham is a huge success already and making better use of the unused parts of the multi storey car park will help the area go from strength to strength, and I look forward to seeing the Peckham Levels opening next year."

The lease arrangements have been extended an additional 12 months to allow for the slight delay. Bold Tendencies and Frank’s Café have also been given a four-year lease to stay on at the car park.

James Leay, Managing Director of Make Shift, said "We are thrilled to have overcome this last hurdle, and are now ready to start bringing Peckham Levels to life. We can't wait to begin building both the physical space, and our community of members, over the coming months."
