Description

Every poem starts with noticing something. Growing Poetry is about paying attention to what’s happening in the garden.
Part scavenger hunt, part writing workshop, we’ll start by hunting for clues in the garden (e.g. the smallest thing you can find, something that’s green...) and then we’ll be using what we find to write our own poems. This workshop is about having fun with words and using nature to help us.
Participants will have the opportunity to perform their work at The Hithe Garden Party on 1st June.

About the facilitator
Katie is a poet, workshop facilitator and producer based in SW London. In 2022 she founded The Poetry Lounge, a monthly open mic night for people who love poetry. Her poem, Some Things I Like is published in Ten Poems of Hope by Candlestick Press. She is a poet chef with The Poetry Takeaway - the world's first poetry emporium - cooking up poems for people of all ages, in a variety of places. She loves the colour yellow.

Who can attend?
This workshop is suitable for ages 7-11. Parents are welcome to accompany participants, or pick them up at the end of the session.
