Free climate events in Southwark from 21 to 29 June 2025

These free events for London Climate Action Week are part of our commitment to do something each year that brings together residents, community groups and businesses to take climate action.

Midsummer’s Day Climate Festival in Burgess Park

A celebration to raise awareness of the impact of climate change on our very own Burgess Park, its visitors and local residents. It's being run in partnership with a range of community organisations.

When: Saturday 21 June, activities running from 9am to 9pm

Where: Burgess Park, Albany Road, SE5 0AL

High Streets for People

We’re bringing residents, families, communities and businesses together to celebrate our high streets. Celebrations on Bellenden Road will include smoothie bikes, bike repair, face painting, space hopper racing and more.

When: Saturday 21 June, activities running from 11am to 4pm

Get free energy advice and borrow some DIY equipment

Get free expert advice from the LSBU Energy Advice Centre on making green home improvements. You can also book helpful tools from our 2 newest Library of Things sites, like DIY tools, thermal imaging cameras and moisture meters.

Get household items repaired for free

Repair Café Nunhead are expert fixers that can mend household electricals, computers, clothes, toys, woodworking and much more. Bring anything you can carry on your own from home. The repair café will try their best to repair it for you. 

When: Saturday 28 June, 1pm to 4pm

Upgrade your wardrobe with pre-loved clothes

Book a place and bring up to 5 pre-loved items to swap for new-to-you items with Loanhood Clothes Swap

When: Saturday 28 June, 11.30am to 4pm

Book your place at our clothes swap shop 

Learn new skills in one of our mending workshops

Sunny Jar Eco Hub are running these workshops alongside our clothes swap shop. Learn how to mend and alter any clothing and make your new clothes last for longer.

Get free bike repairs and learn how to do them

Bike mechanics will be on hand to do a free repair and teach you how to make easy fixes without help in the future.

Become a climate expert – workshops for the planet

Book any of these 15 green workshops to learn, share and exchange ideas. They're open to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned environmental specialist or just dipping your toes into the world of sustainability.

When: Saturday 28 June, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm

Book your free place in one of the climate workshops

Science Owl sustainability workshops for kids (6 to 12)

The aim of the workshops are to encourage children to get creative and think like scientists and engineers, while teaching them about the environment and materials. Children will re-purpose waste and transform old toys and objects into something useful.
