Improvement works are being made to Spa Road to support your growing community and provide safer access to local amenities, such as Bermondsey Spa Gardens and local shops and cycleways. Works will begin on 23 March 2020 and run until summer 2020.

Congestion in the local area is likely to increase during the works, which may add time to your journeys.

Please read the information below carefully to ensure any disruptions to your day are minimised.

Scheme objectives

Following the completion of significant development in your area, and with further development in the pipeline, Southwark have had the opportunity to draw on funding contributed by these developments to make improvements to the public space that both existing and future residents will benefit from.

Some of the changes that will be made are:

new raised junction with Spa Road and Alscot Road
new flat top speed hump between Sainsbury’s and Bermondsey Spa Gardens
widened footway on the Sainsbury’s side of Spa Road
footway and road resurfacing
electric vehicle charging points outside Bermondsey
Spa Gardens
tree planting near Grange Road
