Performace Poet Anna Somerset - Walworth Library
Walworth Poetry Group meet again to hear performance poet Anna Somerset perform at our stair place at Southwark Heritage Centre and Walworth Library. Anna who is published her own material.

Anna knows Southwark well. Aeons ago she worked as a PA at The Folio Society when it was based in Great Suffolk Street and later was Head of Development for the British School of Osteopathy, ensuring free treatment for all Aylesbury Estate residents. As activities co-ordinator in a care home she writes often about the humorous side of caring. A trained actor, she’s a very engaging and lively performance poet and has been a regular MC of poetry nights.
Anna’s first collection From the Doggerlanders was published in May 2024 by London Poetry Books. Feature spots include Paper Tiger, Islington’s Poetry Shack, Play on Words and Talking Rhythm in Greenwich. Four of her poems were commissioned by the British Council award-winning photographer Peter Bromley for his zine, Voir in 2023. She will be featuring at Morecambe Poetry Festival in 2025 and two of her poems have been selected for Moth Light Presses, Hastings Poet Town which will be published in 2025. Pushing your dotage was shortlisted for Alzheimer’s Society’s poem of the year by Vahni Anthony Capaldeo. Her poem, Bernadette is Behaving Badly won a prize at the Inaugural Bermondsey and Beyond Literary Festival.
