Description

The exhibition showcases the work of artist and writer Varaidzo, displaying an ongoing archival series that documents notable figures from Black British History before 1948, the year HMT Windrush arrived. The full archive comprises of over 100 digitally drawn works revive faded photographs and blurred film footage, informed by first-hand accounts that capture each subject’s uniqueness and legacy.

Many of the figures including Dr Harold Moody, Ronald Moody, and Una Marson lived locally to Staffordshire St on Queen’s Road, now marked with a blue plaque in their honour.

Figures is a celebration of these stories and a reminder of the impact we can have in our communities today.
