Southwark schools for the future

Programme of works

We're building and refurbishing 12 secondary schools, including two brand new schools, to provide much needed secondary places.

We'll also work on two campuses of the Southwark inclusive learning service and an extra school will benefit from our state of the art ICT investment.

Our projects include:

  • St Michael's Catholic College - construction commenced in May 2009 and the new school opened in September 2010
  • Tuke School - construction commenced in May 2009 and the new school opened in September 2010
  • St Michael and All Angels Academy and the co-located Highshore School - construction is due to start December 2011
  • St Thomas the Apostle College - commenced in August 2010 and the school is scheduled to be completed by February 2012
  • Spa School - construction commenced in August 2010 and the new school opened in September 2011
  • New School, Aylesbury - due to start construction in August 2010 (this building will be occupied by Sacred Heart while their school is rebuilt from July 2012 to August 2012; the new Academy is due to open in September 2014)
  • St Saviour's and St Olave's School - construction commenced in July 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2012
  • Notre Dame School - construction commenced in July 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in January 2013
  • Bredinghurst School, construction commenced in July 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in January 2013
  • The Charter School - ICT investment to be implemented from early 2012
  • Sacred Heart Catholic Secondary School - construction is due to start in July 2012 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2014
  • Southwark Inclusive Learning Service Key Stage 3 and 4 - construction is due to start in Spring 2012
