Who the courses are for

• all levels who want a good grounding in the fundamentals of drawing and experiment with drawing in a range of materials and developing the works in painting and mixed media

What you'll learn

Gain confidence in exciting structured approaches to drawing from measuring, proportion to expressive and energetic work. Use a variety of pens, pencils, charcoals, watercolor washes pastels and mixed media. Learn about approaches of new Artists each week. In good weather, we may visit a local site to practice.

How courses are taught

• structured techniques developed individually
• technical demonstrations, group discussions and tutorials
• there's a lot of interaction and encouragement from the group
• we use google classroom to upload our independent work outside the lesson for discussions and view course resources

Materials you'll need

You will be given a list of basic drawing and painting materials to buy, including:

• pencils
• A3 sketchbook
• watercolours
• a drawing pen

For some sessions, the tutor will provide specialist materials like compressed charcoal, dip pens and collage materials. You will receive a list of materials before the start of the course and we also provide materials as part of the £10 materials fee.
