Timetable, fees and enrolling
First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person with a minor or serious illness or injury.
This course includes online learning with practical tasks. For the practical tasks, your trainer needs to see you clearly on your webcam. You’ll also complete some self-directed e-learning.
You'll learn how to:
- provide care to preserve life
- prevent the condition from worsening
- promote recovery until medical services arrive
On completion of the course, you'll be prepared to apply your skills to a variety of emergency situations.
What you'll learn

- responsibilities of a first aider
- how to assess a situation and get help
- resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation awareness
- burns
- choking
- dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- minor injuries
- epilepsy
- basic hygiene in first aid
- bleeding control
- shock
How the course is taught
The course is led by a specialist trainer and will include:
- learning from demonstrations
- participation in practical activities (you'll need to be able to do this on the floor as in a real-life situation)
- videos and audio teachings
- group discussions
