This course, part of our new special interest offer and additional to our GLA-funded programme, is open to anyone aged 18 or over.
For anyone with an interest in learning simple massage techniques alongside basic mindfulness practice and other methods to promote good posture and boost general wellbeing.
The tutor is ITEC (International Therapy Examination Council) qualified.
What you'll learn
- massage techniques you can do through clothing or with oils on accessible areas like feet and hands
- simple chair-based and standing exercises, including posture, alignment, effective breathing patterns, core strength awareness and stretching with and without exercise bands
- an introduction to basic anatomy, especially around the back and shoulders
- simple mindfulness techniques to promote wellbeing
How the course is taught
Through practical, hands-on learning and participation in a relaxed, supportive and safe environment.
Please inform the tutor of any issues which may affect your participation beforehand if possible or at the start of the class and also inform us in advance of any allergies as essential oils will be used.
The course will finish with a mindfulness section. This will include breathing and stretching and a guided visualization to help reduce stress, anxiety, and improve overall mental well-being.

After the course
You will be able to carry out simple massages.
You will have an increased awareness of the benefits of good posture and how mindfulness can benefit everyday living.
