Join us for this one-day workshop designing, making and decorating a stylish ceramic candle holder. Could be a perfect Christmas gift! 

Suitable for everyone, with or without experience of working with clay. You can practise some simple techniques and bring out your creative side too!

You'll learn how to:

• design your candle holder
• roll out a slab of clay
• mitre and join edges to make a cylinder and how to join this to a base
• cut the decorative features from clay
• decorate your candle holder using colour slips and underglazes

How the course is taught

During the workshop, you'll actively explore and learn through:

• demonstration, practical tasks, discussion (group and one-to-one discussion with the tutor)
• a supportive and collaborative learning environment where learners can share ideas and help each other
• various visual resources with templates from which you can choose your design 

What to bring 

Materials and firings will be covered by your course fee but you may like to bring a pen/pencil and a notebook.

Your item will be bisque fired after the session and a transparent glaze applied by the technician who will re-fire the piece a second time to a glaze temperature. You will be able to collect your finished item at a later date.
