Queens Road 4 update

Queens Road 4 - Project Summary

Southwark Council’s proposed new offices at Asylum Road, Peckham

Southwark Council has officially stopped and closed plans to build new offices at its site in Peckham known as Queens Road 4 (128-148 Asylum Road).

The decision was formalised at the council’s Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 20 October. Read the full report and minutes.

Cllr Rebecca Lury, cabinet member for finance and resources, said: “We decided to reconsider our proposals for Queens Road 4, originally set to deliver significant new office space for the council, due to the fundamental shift in the working patterns of staff and digitisation of some services in response to COVID-19.

“With less need for individuals to be physically present in our offices, we will be exploring the opportunity to redevelop the site to consider providing housing alongside office space. All technical work already undertaken is paid and will be used as far as possible to bring forward the alternative scheme.”

No further proposals have been put forward and the council will continue to work with local residents and organisations on any new project for this site.
