The flood asset register
If you own a flood asset you must get our permission to change, remove or replace it.
We maintain a flood asset register for the borough. This records all structures or features that affect the flow or storage of water.
If you do anything to affect the flow of water in Southwark, you’ll need agreement before you begin from either:
- the Environment Agency if you’re working near a main river
- us if you’re working near any other kind of water source (called an ordinary watercourse)
If you do not get consent from us and your work affects an ordinary watercourse we will take action against you.
