Get building regulations approval
Overview
Building control approval, also known as building regulations, deals with the technical details of building works. It ensures the health and safety of people in and around the building.
Check if you need building regulations approval
We can offer you guidance and advice on:
- if you need building control consent
- what additional information you need to give us
- what application forms you need to fill in
- what charges you'll need to pay
Whether you hire your own agent, architect, engineer, or surveyor, we'll offer advice on your project. We cannot act as your consultant, but we can often make useful suggestions to help you with your project.
You may be able to join a competent person scheme (CPS). This allows companies to self-certify that their work complies with the building regulations. This is an alternative to submitting an application to a council. Read more about CPS.
If your building work is not on our charges list, complete the building control quotation request online form.
If you are doing work on or near a wall, or are building a new wall that is shared with another property, check if your work is affected by the Party Wall Act.
Serve a Party Wall Notice to Southwark Council
You must service a Party Wall Notice to the council if you are:
- doing work on or near a wall

Note that Party Wall Notices should be sent to us with accompanying drawings and structural calculations.
