Wider council plans and strategies

The council has published many other studies, plans and strategies that help inform the development of our policies and contain aims and objectives that our planning policies and guidance seek to deliver.

Housing strategy 2043

Southwark council cabinet agreed Southwark’s first long-term housing strategy in January 2015. The Southwark housing strategy to 2043 consists of four principles:

  • we'll use every tool at our disposal to increase the supply of all kinds of homes across Southwark
  • we'll demand the highest standards of quality, making Southwark a place where you will not know whether you are visiting homes in private, housing association or council ownership
  • we'll support and encourage all residents to take pride and responsibility in their homes and local area
  • we'll help vulnerable individuals and families to meet their housing needs and live as independently as possible
