Article 4 Directions
Class E to Residential
On 27 January 2022, Southwark Council confirmed an immediate Article 4 Direction that came into effect from 1 August 2021. This withdraws the permitted development rights under Class MA. This means changes of use from Commercial, Business and Leisure (Class E) to residential (Class C3) will need planning permission in the following locations:
- Central Activities Zone
- Railway Arches
- Town centres
- New Southwark Plan Site Allocations
- Strategic Protected Industrial Land
- Shopping frontages
