Building regulations and land charges
Building regulations
Whether or not your building project needs planning permission, you'll still need to meet building regulations.
You can found out detailed information on our building regulations section of the website.
Advice can also be found on the building regulations pages of the Planning Portal.
Local land charges
Land Charges are searches of property history. They take place when a property is changing hands, usually by solicitors acting on behalf of the buyers. Searches are submitted to us to provide information about planning applications, building regulation applications, enforcement activity, conditions or other charges on the property or land being sold.
We encourage you to use the online planning applications register which contains information on all planning applications received by the council since 2002 and scanned documents from 2007. This online register is updated daily.
You can search for an application by its number or address using the quick search page. The advanced search page lets you search for an application by the date it was received or decided, address, ward or community council area, conservation area, application type (eg full or listed building), type of development (eg householder or large scale dwellings), or by the name of the applicant or agent. This register also includes details of planning appeals received and decided.
